Who we are – Our Company offers design and engineering services to a variety of industries including: LED lighting technology, photography, wireless video and military products.  We are a small company that is expanding and this is an excellent opportunity to work with a dynamic company building innovative products.

Skills Desired – some or all

• Solidworks Sheet Metal Design
• Plastic injection part design
• Die Cast Part design – (High volume)
• Machined Part design
• Familiarity with Rapid prototypes (FDM, SLA, SLS)
• Mechanical drive experience – Gears, Belts, bearing, linear guides, servos, stepper motors

Parts and products that we design generally start as machined or sheet metal parts and then transition into injection molded plastic or die cast products.  We design, prototype, test and build products in house.

This is a hands-on position.  We work closely with our fabrication partners for turning concepts into reality.  We have a variety of projects we work on so you must be able to manage multiple designs efforts.

Intro to CNC Machining - August 6, 2012

This class will be an introduction to setting up and running a CNC Milling machine.  Students will learn basic machining principles, safety, and best practices.  There will be a Mastercam demo illustrating the process of programming the parts, and then the students will transfer the completed G code into the machine.  Setup and load tools, perform tool and work offsets and then run parts.  There will be 4 projects in this class and students will make their own parts to take home.  Classes are limited to only 8 students.  Get real world, hands-on instruction with an incredibly small student to instructor ratio.

Western Digital in Irvine is looking for a temporary senior designer with strong SolidWorks experience.  Our ideal candidate would have lots of sheet metal, injection molded plastics and some rubber experience in a high volume commercial setting.  He or she will be working with lead ME’s to design and document new products, with possibly a few changes to existing products.  Experience with SolidWorks Enterprise PDM would be a plus.  Due to the commercial deadline nature of the products, this is a fairly fast-paced atmosphere.  Hours are semi-flexible, with some overtime to be expected.  If things work out, there’s an outside chance that the job can be converted to permanent.  Sorry to all you recruiters out there, due to contractural agreements, temps will have to be run through Kelly.
