Solidworks Designer Needed
Posted: 20th June 2012 by Gabriel Corbett - OCSWUG Group Leader in GeneralA Message from Cris Guevara……..
I was just asked if I knew of anyone having SW experience (5 years) and needed a part time position (4-6 weeks, full time, 7am to 4 pm).
The company would prefer not to use an agency to acquire the help.
The facility is in Duarte (where the 605 meets the 210 fwy).
If you know of any possible candidates, please have them contact me, I would prefer to review their profile before presenting them to the company.
Thanks,
Sincerely
Cris A. Guevara
Western Digital is Hiring
Posted: 19th June 2012 by Gabriel Corbett - OCSWUG Group Leader in GeneralWestern Digital in Irvine is looking for a temporary senior designer with strong SolidWorks experience. Our ideal candidate would have lots of sheet metal, injection molded plastics and some rubber experience in a high volume commercial setting. He or she will be working with lead ME’s to design and document new products, with possibly a few changes to existing products. Experience with SolidWorks Enterprise PDM would be a plus. Due to the commercial deadline nature of the products, this is a fairly fast-paced atmosphere. Hours are semi-flexible, with some overtime to be expected. If things work out, there’s an outside chance that the job can be converted to permanent. Sorry to all you recruiters out there, due to contractural agreements, temps will have to be run through Kelly.

In this course, author Gabriel Corbett shows how to create manufacturing-ready parts and assemblies in SolidWorks 2012. Beginning with simple 2D sketching and the software’s sketch-editing tools, the course provides step-by-step instruction on building 3D geometry from 2D sketches. The course covers creating complex 3D objects with the Extrude, Revolve, Sweep, and Loft tools and shows building complex assemblies by mating individual parts together into robust assemblies and structures.
The course shows how to cut and revolve holes into parts and use the Hole Wizard tool to generate industry standard holes like counter bores, counter sinks, and taps. Best practice for designing parts is emphasized throughout the course as well as methods for creating parts faster and easier using equations, mirroring, and patterning tools. The course wraps up with generating manufacturing-ready drawings complete with an itemized Bill of Materials. As a bonus feature, Gabriel shows how to photo render a final design. Exercise files are included with the course.
